Clatsop County Jail and Courts Study

 Project Description

The Clatsop County Sheriff’s Office is the primary criminal investigation and law enforcement agency for rural Clatsop County. The Sheriff’s Office includes the Correctional Facility, countywide Inter-agency Narcotics Task Force, Marine Patrol, High Angle Rescue, Search and Rescue and the Underwater Recovery (Dive) Team. The Sheriff is responsible for Emergency Services planning and response to disasters and alerts.

In 2005, the Clatsop County Sheriff contracted to conduct a comprehensive analysis of staffing and a needs assessment of the Clatsop County Jails.

CSI conferred with the Sheriff’s Office command staff and identified fiscal and logistical efficiencies regarding jail and transportation operations.

The final report presented detailed recommendations with regard to operating efficiencies, a staffing analysis with management suggestions, and recommendations for the enhancement and expansion of the existing facility from 65 beds to more than 130 beds.
