Minimizing Internet-based Child Exploitation (MICE) Resource Center

 Project Description

Child exploitation via the Internet, and sexual predators that are preying on the youth of this country, are a growing community and law enforcement concern. In FY 2006, the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) provided funding for the National Sheriffs’ Association (NSA) to develop a national initiative to minimize internet-based child exploitation, an initiative that can be replicated by law enforcement agencies throughout the country.

In order to assist our Sheriffs and all local law enforcement agencies, the NSA has developed a knowledge-based tool that can be disseminated through a variety of portals. The MICE Resource Center is an innovative law enforcement product which contains educational and informational materials for law enforcement officials and their community partners; specialized law enforcement guides and instructional videos on general internet safety and cyber-bullying; multiple training programs for parents, students, community members and law enforcers; marketing materials that can be tailored to specific local law enforcement jurisdictions; and a wealth of information that can be utilized in the fight against this growing public safety plague.
