Creating A Safer School (CASS)CASS is the cornerstone program provided by CSI to school administrators and communities interested in safe educational environments for children. The program began in 1999 when the Department of Justice/Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (DOJ/OJJDP) assigned CSI to develop and facilitate a national safe-school training initiative. Within the first year, CSI received the highest implementation rating of all training and technical assistance programs provided through the grant. Since then, CSI has developed several additional programs, training, and materials to help schools remain safe. Featured on major national broadcast networks, CSI’s CASS series is used by the DOJ/OJJDP; Department of Defense, Office of Family Services; the International Association of Chiefs of Police; the National Sheriffs’ Association; and Safe and Drug Free coordinators. See box at right to link to the list of CASS training courses. |
